1 Pound – 2015, Royal Arms with quartered shield

The Royal Arms has featured regularly on the £1 coin since its very first issue in 1983.

The brand new Royal Arms £1 features a quartered shield at its centre, designed by Timothy Noad. On one side of the shield is the crowned English lion and on the other a Scottish unicorn. Just below the shield you will find a rose, thistle, shamrock and leek to represent England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales respectively.

Royal Arms £1 coin also features the brand new fifth portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, designed by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark.
